Forex market hours

The forex market is open 24 hours a day from Sunday afternoon to Friday afternoon New York time. The weekly market opens every Monday morning in Wellington, Sydney, Tokyo, London and finally in New York. Due to the time differences and variation in regional trading volumes, the peak trading period is daily between 3AM and 12PM EST. During these hours, there is more liquidity and also improved pricing. As a result, many traders consider these the best times to trade. Generally, favorable trading periods occur when two major sessions overlap (e.g. from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm in New York, while London is still open for trading). However, this can vary depending on the particular day and news events occurring in the market place.
